Vocabulary - To provide clarification of meaning through practicing within a "school" context
To provide accuracy in pronunciation and sspelling through drilling and activities
Procedure (37-43 minutes)
* Lead in with previous days context of daily routines; ask what they do daily. * Set context of "school" with the classroom picture and get get them to talk about school life, teachers and lessons.
* Introduce school subjects with pictures and elicit / give names. * Drill subject names pointing at the pictures on the board.
* Introduce word search game on Handout 1 with clear instructions, there is an example solution on the hand out (English) * Drill words again if necessary * Show PPT with new pictures and give Ss Handout 2 with the same pictures on it so they can write subject names underneath. Ask students to come up to the board and write names of the subjects next to the pictures on the board (one subject per student on the board)
* Give timetable handout (Handout 3 also on board on PPT) and get them to fill in the gaps individually and have WCFB for full names of the subjects. Use have/has got and present simple tense. * Pair Ss to fill a day each and then model again for them to read their days to each other and fill in their parner's day on their timetable so they can now have 3 days in total. Give the other 2 days as homework
Ask a couple of Ss about their favourite school subjects and if PE, favourite sports and team etc or if music, favourite singer or music or if art, what they like drawing... Pair Ss to talk about these and have a FB
