This lesson is about jobs and using be verbs in the present simple tense. Students will learn how to use am, is and are with job titles.

Abc gap fill handouts, flashcards

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and review of be verbs in the context of jobs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of language used for be verbs contractions in the context of jobs

Procedure

Warm Up/Lead In (6-8 minutes) • to get students attention and engage them into the lesson.

I will use flash cards about jobs. mingling them to work together and practice the jobs.

Practice (5-8 minutes) • to practice asking about jobs using "to be verbs" in the present tense

students will stand up in a circle and each student will hold a job flash card and says what the job he has. I will give them a demo how to ask about obs for Ex. what do you do?

Pre-practice (1-2 minutes) • to introduce them to the short form of "to be verbs"

will demonstrate to them the short form of the be verbs

Practice 2 (5-8 minutes) • short forms of present simple "to be verbs".

I will hand them handouts exercises about the contraction of be verbs and let them answer.

Practice 3 (5-10 minutes) • using "to be verbs" in sentences.

I will give them handouts about using "am, is and are" to fill in the gaps.

Practice (5-9 minutes) • to let them speak about jobs using "to be verbs".

I will let the student to be in a circle and practicing "to be verbs", jobs and asking What do you do?
