Description

In the lesson, Ss practice was/were through listening. The lesson starts with the broken telephone game. This is followed by pre-teach vocabulary such as wedding, bride, groom and wedding anniversary. This is followed by gist listening in which students circle the correct answer. After that Ss will listen in detail and answer some questions. As a follow up task, Ss will practice speaking skill in the contex of wedding.

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about wedding in the context of happy anniversary

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of wedding

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss will stand in two lines. I will whisper a sentence in student s ears who are the back of the line, and they whisper to the next and the students who is closest to the board writes down what s/he heard. The fastest group wins. Sentences: Are you engaged? I am married. Were you in honeymoon ? He is my husband. I love my wife.

Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will edit wedding from the sentences of the game and I will focus on different kinds of weddings from different countries. I will show them a lot of pictures of wedding from other countries. they will talk about the differences and similarities. First pair check and then WCFB. We will focus on some words such as groom, bride, wedding anniversary, wedding.

While-Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Which country is the man talking about? Listening for gist.

While-Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Give Ss HO#1 and give the instruction. 1. Read the questions. 2. Listen 3.Circle correct words. After listening, 4. Check with your partner, Give answer key.

While-Reading/Listening #3 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Give Ss HO#2 Instructions: 1. Read questions 2.Listen, 3. Answer the questions After listening, Pair check Give them answer key.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Find someone who ... in the past. likes wedding (Do you like wedding?) married( Are you married?) happy in weddings sad in weddings handsome, beautiful, 1.Look at the paper, 2. Stand up, 3. Ask & answer questions (were you shy? were you busy? ) 4. Fill in the gap If there is enough time, I will give them some question-answer papers and they will try to match them by aking their friends
