To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of emotions in dramatic situations
Procedure (28-40 minutes)
T will show the picture of skydiving with a sentence from reading on the PPT slide, and ask Ss where thay have seen that sentence. T will present adverb+adjective structure through the same sentence.
Ss will look at the slide which firstly illustrates the meaning of gradable adjectives and then highlights non-gradable ones. Ss will also be introduced to adverbs which are used with each group of adjectives.
Ss give their opinions about skydiving using correct intonation
Ss will look at the picture of thermometer and understand that no degree is needed with extreme adjectives.
Ss will look at the pictures describing 7 adjectives and will try to memorise them.
Every St will individually try to find non-gradable forms of the adjectives on the slide.
1. T will distribute 20 adjectives cards and Ss in A group will find gradable adjectives, while Ss in B group will identify non-gradable ones. 2. Ss will mingle and as a whole class will match adjectives. 3. Ss will stick adjectives on the board under the category of adverbs they are used with.
Ss will look at the picture of roller coaster and try to guess how people feel when they go on one.
Ss will look at the list of situations and ask any unfamiliar vocabulary. Then, Ss in pairs choose one situation from the slide and discuss with their partner how they felt when they experienced it. One person from each pair describes his or his partner's feelings using useful language box.
