Description

In the present lesson, Ss are first introduced to real personal documents containing personal information so as to relate the lesson to the external world by using concrete examples. The lesson will be based on WC work and individual work as it is understood that the lesson emphasises on Ss giving personal information to serve a certain purpose.

Main Aims

  • To intoduce Ss to different types of personal information and practice questions through the context of hiring a car.
  • To provide practice of language used for Giving personal information in the context of Hiring a car

Subsidiary Aims

  • To sharpen Ss skills in listening and speaking in a particular context

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set the context of the lesson and actively engage students

After greeting the Ss, the T will proceed by presenting real documents containing personal information. The T will elicit answers from the Ss before they can names and identify each document and what information do they contain " personal information''

Presentation (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

After the identification of the documents, the T will draw Ss attention to pp 10-11 of the course-book. The T will initiate a class based discussion to increase STT especially at this level through asking Ss to identify the people in the given picture and where they seem to be.

Practice (15-20 minutes) • To enable students to identify the different types of personal information

The T will ask the Ss to have a look at the handouts that they were given at the very beginning of the lesson. Ss will be asked to answer questions about '' Molly'' before I will ask them to peer check their answers and put them for perusal. After peer check, the class will engage in an oral FB. Ss will be asked for more practice, Ss will peer check again the following exercise and WC feedback. The T will voice the number of the item Ss should match while Ss will say the matching letter.

Practice 2 (10-15 minutes) • Provide more practice on personal information giving through listening

Ss will be asked to draw questions that go with the answers ''ex 6-a'' before they listen to ''R.17'' to stress on pronunciation. The T will drill the questions with the WC before getting Ss to practice by asking and answering the questions with each other in pairs. The T will elicit how to change the questions using different subject pronouns. Ss will listen to a conversation and will be asked to fill in the gaps on the form '' R1.18'' for more practice. WC FB

Free production (10-12 minutes) • To check students understanding out of the lesson and what they can produce using functional language

Ss will be put in pairs according to their height. The T will hand in blank car hire forms and Ss will be asked to interview each other in order to fill in the personal information in the form given. ''''R1.20''''
