Description

In this lesson the students will learn about colors through the receptive skills reading and listening. The lesson will start with naming the colors "what color is it?” and then play a game about colors. Then There will be some vocabulary to teach and we will do a jigsaw then play a game again and listening to check information.

Main Aims

  • The main aim in this lesson is the receptive skills reading and listening

Subsidiary Aims

  • The subsidiary aim in this lesson is vocabulary mainly about colors.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set the context and engage the students.

-Greeting the students. Hi, how are you today? Happy, sad, good, great, super. -The teacher introduces her friend "Parrot" the puppet clearing that he likes shapes and name their colors pointing to the shapes on the floor. -The teacher says: "Parrot" likes circles. What color is the circle? It's black. The teacher sticks the black flashcard on board. What about the triangle? What color is it? Until the five colors are there on the board.

Semi-controlled-Practice (4-5 minutes) • To review colors and make sure Ss can name them independently.

-Transition to make a circle around the shapes on the floor. -The teacher shows a color, students name it and and one student jumps on the right color. Students take turn until everyone has a turn. -Transition to go to the table. -ICQ: Are we walking or jumping? Jumping.

Pre-teach vocabulary (7-8 minutes) • To present new words for the story text.

-In order to explain the new vocabulary: "paint, look, cool, and share" I bring up a flashcard that has got some colors and showing it is paint. I stick the flashard on board. - I ask the students to have a look pointing at my eyes and say look. I stick the flashcard on board too. -Then I show them how content and happy I am with the paint picture I say cool. -After that I ask a student to come and paint with me and say share, let`s share. CCQ: Is it paint or pencil? Paint.

Vocabulary (6-7 minutes) • To review the vocabulary words.

-Transition to line up in two teams. -Flashcards on board, each student from each team will have a turn to throw the ball at the target word. -The game finishes when everyone has done his turn. -Transition to sit down "Two Little Feet".

Reading 1 (5-6 minutes) • To use the vocabulary in a story text.

-To do the reading story I model the instruction by showing the students a blank sheet that has number 1 2 3 4 to help the students order the pictures in the correct order. -In Groups of two, Students will be given 4 pictures from Everybody Up 1 Student Book page 16 and Students in groups need to put them in the correct order. ICQ: Are we ordering or jumping? Ordering.

Listening (4-5 minutes) • To check information.

-Students listen to the story and check their work. -Students stick the pieces on the blank sheet. -Transition to another activity. ICQ: Are we listening or sleeping? Listening.

A follow- up listening activity (5-6 minutes) • To have extra listening practice.

- On the walls there are number 1 2 and 3. -Each students is given a handout. -Students listen and need to put each handout under the correct order. 1 2 3 4. -Goodbye song
