Description

in this session the ss will be introduced to predicative adjectives and learn some of these words. the lesson will start with a game (hangman) and the the new vocabulary items will be worked on. they will do some exercises in their books to learn the items and the lesson will move to grammar presentation that is the position of predicative adjectives. they will do the related wb exercises. ss will also have some individual work,pw, and gw as well.

Materials

Main Aims

  • they will have controlled and freer practice using the predivative adj. the main aim of this lesson is to introduce the learners to predicative adjectives and to teach how adj may function differently based on their types and they affect the meaning. theo other main is to introduce some predicative adj and teach them how to use and relate them into their personla life. i hope by the end of the course they have understood everything and will be able to talk about themselves and their families using these words.

Subsidiary Aims

  • to review attributive adjectives and give them the cance to speak fluently using the targeted grammar and words

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

playing hangman game and introduce the word "dead" and the expression "alive and well"

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

i will put the pictures on the board and ask them to match the words in their cb with the pics.then they will work in pairs or in small groups to match the definitions with the words in their book. if they have any problems with the meanings i must clarify.

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

they will work on their cb to figure out which sentence is better. FB is necessary at this point. i must elicit some examples from them to draw their attention to the place of adj in the sentences and a bit talk about the differences between the two.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

some more work can be done at this stage to solve any remaining problems regarding the form, pronunciation, and meaning.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

here they will do their wb exercises in pairs and in small groups

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

at first i must provide some samples using some of the words in the lesson and then i can introduce some new predicative adj and ask them to do so in small groups.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

i must pose some questions and then ask them to do the same with different learners i can monitor them abd later on provide FB.
