In this lesson Ss will talk about legends (movie star,singer,comedian) by using the regular verbs of simple past and irregular ones was-were.Students will start talking about the legends that will be hang on the walls.Ss will talk and write about their family,education and marriage.


Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of legends

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a paragraph in the context of extraordinary lives


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T hangs some photos of legends on the walls and and T asks their names to check whether they know them or not.T asks some qouestions about them. 'Are they alive or dead'? Ss say dead. T says they lived in the past.T tells students who they are.

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T shows a picture of one of the most famous actor and T also shows other pictures related to him to show the difference between was and were.T makes some sentences and reflects them on the board.T does the same thing wtih other people. T says' look at my exhibition'.'These are my favourite ones.These people are extraordinary' T asks 'Who is your favourite extraordinary one among these? Why? T lets some of the Ss talk.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T asks Ss to talk about their favourite legends among the pictures and discuss why with their partners.T asks some ICQs 1)Will you talk or write?(talk) 2).Will you discuss among these pictures or not?(pictures) After they finish talking, Ss write a short paragraph about their thoughts and T monitors.Then Ss do mingling.First they stand up then they find a partner and talk about the similarities and differences on their paper.When they finish,they find another partner and complete thier charts.T asks some ICQs What is the first step?(stand up) What is the second step?( find a partner) and What is the third step?( talk about similarities and differences) T gets feedback from the students.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss choose a famous person and write a short paragraph.T asks some T asks CCQs 1)Does she/he have to be an actress,a singer or a dancer?(yes) 2)Alive or dead?(dead) 3)Do many people love him/her?(yes) When Ss finish their writing,T tell their partners about who and what they wrote about.T asks some T gives students some questions which was prepared before and Ss asks some question to each other. Ss get the answers of their friends and write some sentences about what they remember.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
