Description

In this lesson, students learn about the object pronuouns through guided discovery based on a reading text about pets. The lesson starts with a story about me and my pet. This is followed by guided learning grammar activity through reading. Finally, there is some controlled-practice through true/false questions, grouping object pronouns and subject pronouns and a free practice via a speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of pronouns in the context of pets

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about Best Friends Forever in the context of pets

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

greet Ss and ask them what they talked about previous lesson? (friends) talk about your best friend, tell Ss to guess what it is. Ask their favourite animals. Give vocabulary through context, use opposite meanings. Use repetition for pronounciation. pairwork: show pictures of animals on the board. Put them in pairs and give instructions. st1 : choose an animal st2: ask questions ( Is it big ? ) and try to find out the animal.

Pre reading activity (2-3 minutes) • To make students be familiar with the text.

*In a minute read the text and try to find out what my boy friend's animal is. What is it ? ( a cat)

while reading (5-5 minutes) • to make students to read in detail to find answers

*Read in detail to make true /false examples. peer check correction / whole class feedback

post reading (7-8 minutes) • To make students acquire object pronouns through the text.

* write a sentence on the board from true/false activity. circle subject pronoun and tell them to say other subject pronouns .Use pictures. circle the object pronoun in the sentence and tell them to say other object pronouns . Use pictures again. *tell them to find subject pronouns and object pronouns from the text .

Guided Learning (grammar) Through Reading (10-15 minutes) • To make students acquire object pronouns through the text.

*circle subject pronoun and tell them to say other subject pronouns .Use pictures. *circle the object pronoun in the sentence and tell them to say other object pronouns . *Use pictures again. *tell them to find subject pronouns and object pronouns from the text . *give them the form of object pronouns. *tell them to make sentences using subject and object pronouns. use pictures on the board.

Semi-controlled speaking practice • to make students use object pronounce properly.

*use like, love, hate words and make sentences using object pronouns. * I like animals. I like them because they are best friends.
