Description

In this lesson learners will focus on receptive skills of reading and sub skill gist reading and as out put of the class will be productive skills of speaking. The context of the lesson is based on embarrassing situaions. The TL "embarrassing" will the pre taught via a PPT about the teacher's personal life. Then Ss will have a Skimming activity. they will read some people talking about their embarrassing situations and match them with the suitable heading. The main practice in this lesson for students is that they will practice how to relate the reading with the real life things or topics, these activities of relating the reading texts to the pictures or preference texts with pictures will make students practice the skill for reading for meaning which is very useful in daily life.These activities will help student to derive the meaning from the text by reading the small text i.e. gist reading, most of the activities will be reading and then students will be discussing after the reading. Apart from the lead in teacher will play a passive role and will be monitoring students for the errors and to provide assistance. The out put of the lesson will be speaking where students will share their knowledge and personal ideas about the TL.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T starts the lesson by introducing herself and tells ss that the following ppt tells a story about herself. Right after the ppt the T asks CCQs and elicits the TL "embarrasing" The CCQs : How did I feel? Did I feel stupid? Did my face become red? Did I feel proud of my action? After eliciting the TL Ss are directed to their books and asked to choose which of the situations below would be the most embarrassing?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ss are instructed to skim the text and match the messages to the situations in ex. 1 in exactly 1 minute. ISQ : When will you start reading? (after the signal) How much time will you have? Ss check their answers in pairs then WC FB will be given

While-Reading/Listening #1 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ss are told to read the text in detail and asked to anwer the questions on page 21. SS work in pairs to check their answers. wc fb will be given by pairs by pairs explaining the reason.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ss are asked to work in pairs and describe an embarrassing experience that happened to them or someone they know.
