In this lesson, students do their first writing with some scaffolding.


Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a story in the context of heroes

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of 3rd conditional in the context of superheroes


Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To warm students to the topic with a little discussion

Listening for Gap-fill (9-11 minutes) • To ease students into the L

T hands out the gap-fill form ICQs T starts reading. After the reading, T asks students to check with their peers. T then hands out the key

Review of Grammar (7-9 minutes) • To remind ss the grammar.

T hands out the second half of the HO, which students are supposed to fill and turn into 3rd conditional. ICQs Students fill. Peer-check T hands out key

Speaking (11-13 minutes) • To let ss speak

T tells ss this will be a speaking activity and we will talk about bruce wayne. T matches ss Reads the 1st sentence. Tells ss to describe the situation. Redas the 2nd sentence. The same. This is a story about a child called Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne really loved his parents. Describe his parents. Who could they be? Where could they live? They lived in Gotham City. Describe the city? Is it similar to Istanbul? One day his parents were killed by criminal. After that, Bruce decided to fight evil. He started travelling the world. Describe what happened? Where did he go? What did he learn? The only remaining family member is Alfred, the server. Describe the server? Bruce Wayne comes back to Gotham and starts fighting criminals. Robin helps him. Describe Robin. Writing (12-15 minutes) • To make the Ss write this time

T tells ss we will do the same, we will describe somebody's life but this time in writing and not a fictional but a real hero. ICQs T gives ss the first scaffold and gets ss to write Monitoring. Individual check WCFB for EC
