Adjectives & Nouns (personality)
To provide clarification of personality adjectives with their noun forms in the context of star signs
To provide practice of some certain personality adjectives with their noun forms through a reading text on star signs and a speaking activity
Procedure (35-46 minutes)
The teacher greets the sts and reminds the topic of the first lesson by asking what his/her star sign is after telling when s/he was born. Then she reflects her star sign by the help of the projector. She also asks two sts’ when they were born and gets WC to guess their star signs. She shows the star signs with their timeline on a ppt unless sts have difficulty in guessing their peers’ star sign.
Teacher gets sts to think of three people they know closely and their star sign. She hands out the text on star signs and gets them to read those star signs and check if those personal traits are right for those people.
Teacher gives instruction on coming HO by telling them there are 8 definitions on the right and 8 personality adjectives on the left and gets them to guess what tey are going to do. After handing out the exercise, she monitors them. Then she gets them to check their answers with their peers next to them. During WC FB, she asks concept checking questions and does drilling practice after each personality adjective.
Teacher asks some questions from the text on star signs by using the personality adjectives such as ‘Which star signs are skilled at communicating with people?’.
Teacher gives instruction on coming HO by telling them those are the adjectives that they have just learnt by pointing at the right part on the HO while chesting. Then she asks them to find their noun forms from the text on star signs.After PC, she gets WC FB together with some drilling practice.
Teacher writes four different jobs on WB and asks sts to discuss & decide what the most important qualities are for each job and explain the reasons in groups. Then she shows an example on ppt to help them give an idea. After they finish, she gets WC FB.
