In this lesson students will practice the receptive skill of reading in the context of problems in the home. They will be involved in gist reading ( skimming ), scanning and inferring the meaning of new vocabulary. They will also practice spoken fluency towards the end of the lesson.

In this lesson, students will work on their receptive skill of reading. The lesson starts with the teaching of some vocabulary needed for reading activity through a guided discovery. It is followed by a gist and detailed reading for the main idea of the text and for some specific information. Some phrasal verbs extracted from the text are highlighted for meaning, form, and pronunciation. The lesson finishes with a freer pair discussion for practicing mentioned phrasal verbs.
