Reading lesson

Elementary a2 level

This lesson is about making online friends, which have become an increasingly popular phenomenon in recent times. The lesson aims to develop reading skills and provides practice of sub- skills of speaking and writing skills. Ss will discuss about making online friends. They will work in pairs and in groups to complete the tasks. In post reading, Ss will do some practices on connecting words which can be helpful for writing skill.

Intermediate, b1/b2 level

In this lesson, ss will be familiarized with the vocabulary related to abilities and will practise the vocab items through speaking tasks. As for the main aim of the lessons, ss will practise their receptive skill of reading integrated with the productive skill of speaking in the context of abilities of an autistic person. The jigsaw reading will provide with real communication and the sub-skills of reading for gist, reading for specific information and reading for detail.

TP 8b- Mystery

Elementary level level

In this lesson, the ss will practice productive skill writing and receptive skill reading in the context of mystery. They will read a mysterious story for gist and detailed tasks and practice speaking skills for fluency. Then, they will brainstorm the ideas of telling a story. After that, the ss will practice their writing skills as a whole class activity and then there will be error correction&feedback.

Reading about civil rights lesson

Upper intermediate level

In this lesson SS will develop their receptive skills by reading about the civil rights movement. SS will practice sub-skills like reading for gist and detail including a jigsaw activity. SS will develop language skills by focusing on vocabulary through matching activities and drilling. The lesson will conclude with controlled and freer practice to improve productive skills by doing speaking activities.

Starter level

In this lesson, students will be able to develop their skills of skimming for gist and scanning for specific information in the context of an interview for au pair. At the end, students will develop their skills of speaking(as a sub-aim) by using pre-taught TL which is 'can for ability'.

In this lesson, we will talk about two brands and to what extent the students are familiar with these two brands and how they are formed. Start skimming and scanning and know what questions they are going to answer.

Receptive Skills: Festival Fever

Elementary level

In this lesson students are supposed to move gradually from a receptive skill into a productive one, although the receptive skill is still the main aim. during the lesson students are supposed to speak in the context of " Festivals" and as a final task they will be asked to write about the same topic.

Upper intermediate level

In this lesson students will upgrade their reading for general understanding and detailed information skills in the context of an article on the power of images in comparison to written texts. The lesson begins with discussion between students in which they will share to their peers their opinion on whether they agree or disagree with the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" and the reasons why. Özge Aydemir, Listening Lesson

Intermediate, b1/b2 level

In this lesson, students will practise their receptive skill of listening integrated with the productive skill of speaking in the context of an interview with an English chef. The lesson will start with a lead-in to engage the students with the context which will follow a vocabulary teaching stage. After a prediction task, students will be provided with while listening tasks. Next, controlled speaking and freer speaking practices will take place as post-listening tasks.
