Main Aims

  • To provide practice on the uses of verb patterns with infinitives and gerunds.

Procedure

Lead-in (4-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Share all files in the chat. Welcome students and open with mentioning the upcoming Easter break. Ask students what the enjoy doing, and what they plan to do during the holiday. BORs (3mins to discuss) OCFB

Exposure (6-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Share screen to Google slides (S1) Text message from Musa (S2) Ss read through text message (2 mins) There are 5 examples of the gerund, 5 of the infinitive with 'to; Elicit Ss to give the correct examples (S4) To reveal answers

Clarification (10-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

(S5-6) Work through MFP Elicit from Ss using CCQs Highlight the differences between English gerund and Spanish gerundio. (S7) recaps form, preparing for next task

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Free Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Direct Ss to (S8) to google slides, share screen (S8) Introduces common verbs followed by a gerund, and common verbs followed by the infinitive with 'to' Instruct Ss to take a screenshot We will now role play for 4 minutes (x2) Student A descibes an ideal party using the gerund, Student B will plan that party using responses with the infinitive with 'to'. (4 mins) Ss will now switchs roles Student B now descibes an ideal party using the gerund, Student A will now plan the party using responses with the infinitive with 'to'. (4 mins) OCFB to recap good ideas.

DEC (3 minutes) • To correct any common or key errors from the day's class

Using Word we will highlight good language and correct any observed errors.
