Description

In this session, the learners will be able to practice the language mechanically in the context of talking about a chocolate

Main Aims

  • By the end of the hour, you will be able to review grammar concepts in the context of talking about chocolate
  • By the end of the hour, you will be able to review verbs and nouns to describe processes in the context of making chocolate
  • By the end of the hour, you will be able to have a reading practice in the context of how is chocolate made

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of chocolate

Procedure

Warm up (10-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher greets the students and introduces them to the topic and class dynamic. He has students ask and answer in breakout rooms: How many types of chocolate presentation do you know? Which do you like the most? (Elicit) Example: I know chocolate drink, chocolate bars… Check exercise 1 in the start section of the net, and tell your top 3 and why.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The teacher does content feedback

Reading (20-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target receptive skills

The teacher has students enter the net languages platform and answer exercises 1-4 of the reading section in groups on breakout rooms. When students finish, the teacher must check answers in the generality, so as to solve questions. Students then summarize in the chat what was the reading about.

Closure (20-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The teacher sets the following context: Now that you know how chocolate is made, ask and answer: Would you put a chocolate factory and produce your own chocolate? Why yes/no? In groups you will have to “prepare” the start of a company using the information read: Location, design of the chocolate (logo, name, flavor), purpose (target market)… You will present to the class (so material is needed (can be jamboard, a power point) The teacher sends them to breakout rooms and monitors work

Students present and the teacher provides content feedback (as well as accuracy).

The teacher tells the students they will work on the platform net languages all exercises of the lexis section of unit 9. After finishing the activity the teacher must check answers in the generality, so as to solve questions.

The teacher introduces to the following activity: Retaking your chocolate company, prepare 3 products you would sell: Chocolate drinks, Cakes, cookies… Agree on the recipe for 1 of the products, which you will have to present to the class using the following tool: https://www.powtoon.com/ (the teacher explains how to use the tools) The teacher creates breakout rooms and monitors
