Description

In this lesson students learn about adjectives and strong adjectives, the context will carry through the previous lesson which is about survival, then the context will focus on feelings , and how feelings are expressed through certain adjectives we use on an everyday basis. This will be foreseen through certain activities such as matching the words with there meanings, and constant CCQ's will be in place. There will also be controlled practice tasks and end with a free practice.

Procedure

LEAD IN (2 minutes) • To Link context with Katyas lesson.

Ask the question: How would you feel in the survivor situation? * Get the students to discuss this in pairs.

FB FOR LEAD IN (2 minutes) • To check to see if they know these are adjectives.

Ask the class, how would they feel and then ask: * What are these called? make sure they know these are called adjectives. adjectives are what we use to describe nouns.

EXPOSURE (3 minutes) • Linking Adjectives with the context feelings.

Focus on Katyas 3 adjectives: Overwhelmed, Stunned, Bewildered. Tell the class that, in groups, what do these three adjectives describe?

FB FOR EXPOSURE (3 minutes) • Monitoring & Checking

While the groups are discussing, monitor and check with the groups that there description of the adjectives are correct, ask are these strong adjectives? (yes)

ACTIVITY 1A ADJECTIVES(NORMAL) (5 minutes) • revising adjectives

Match the feelings with the situations in pairs.

Hand out a few answer keys to students ( in groups ) get them to check with there peers and monitor them checking and that it is correct.

ACTIVITY 2A STRONG ADJECTIVES (5 minutes) • To check to see if they know these are STRONG adjectives.

Put the activity on the projector, choose people to write there answer on the board and check if they are correct.

PRONUNCIATION DRILLING (6 minutes) • Check to see if they are pronouncing it correctly

Use the3. Pronunciation activity to go through drilling Get class to drill then just the guys to drill , then ladies to drill. switch it up.

Get them to work in pairs or groups and do the activity gap fill.
