Description

In this lesson the students will go through the while and post-reading activities in the Workbook (the hundredth Smurf). Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of story words in the context of the Smurfs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of the word order in the context of the story

Procedure

Review + Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

* On the WB the teacher writes the list of the words newely learned and calls students to match them with the appropriate picture. * The students asks the students to give feedback (Approval/ disagreement) on their peer's answer. ( a brief drilling of the difficult/long words can be done if the Teacher hears odd pronunciations)

Teach (9-13 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

*The teacher asks the students for a further explanation of the nature/ use/ definition of the terms the struggle with in a concept double-check. * In pairs,The students do the activity in pages 14. * The Teacher gives feedback. * The teacher monitors the student while doing the drawing/coloring activity on page 15.

Test #2 (9-12 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

* The teacher divides the board in parts (1/2/3/4/5) and so he does with the class that goes respectively into groups of 3 to 4 students. Each group will be given vocabulary cards and pictures that, when put in the right order will make meaningful sentences. * The students work within the group and then paste their final answer on the board. * Making sure everybody is engaged, the Teacher monitors the activity and help the "less-fortunate" students. * The peer feedback then the Teacher's will be given. * The Teacher hands the "less-fortunate" students (or those who failed to have the answer in the first test) pictures and ask them to paste them instead of the photos.

Free practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

* The students stick the pictures on their places in the back of the book during the remaining time. This can be done invidually but there is always room to ask for a peer's help or the teacher's assistance.
